Two facts about me:
1) I am a little crazy (not in a serial killer way)
2) I love coffee (serial killer crazy without it)
Now that being said, and today being National Coffee Day AND Friday, of course I was taking a couple Buzzfeed quizzes with my first infusion. I particularly ended up at this - What kind of coffee are you? No but seriously, take a minute to take that quiz.
Two things that intrigued me about that quiz:
1) HOW CAN BUZZFEED KNOW WHAT COFFEE YOU ARE?
2) What kind of coffee I was...
(surprise, surprise). Question 1 still stands....HOW BUZZFEED, HOW?
It's no shocker that I am a 5000% caffeine dependent life form. I mean what is better than the smell of socially acceptable chemical dependence in the morning amirite? And I have been drinking it since I was a kid (before you go all child-health on me, I wasn't chugging espressos at 12, it was one of those 9 part milk, 1 part coffee blends) so of course, the mug has morphed into an extension of my hand now.
So by now, you know HOW DEEP the problem is, I probably have bean water in my veins instead of blood and that is why I have to have to have to have to have a source of good coffee in my house. Now last year I moved from Boston to Los Angeles, and it wasn't a long-term move at all and so I was constantly moving houses. I lived in 4.5 houses in a span of 9 months. Which means I wasn't buying any furniture i.e a bed or coffee machine because of the nomad-esque life.
ENTER SEASON OF CHRISTMAS/MIRACLES/NEED FOR HOTTER COFFEE that led me to praying for a really nice coffee machine this Christmas. Of course a gift from me to me, there is no Santa (sorry kids).
Now, this is a story about chasing your dreams.
I came across this Instagram contest one day hosted by @loveandloathingla (HI CAROLINE U DA BEST) where LA's famous blogger Caroline was doing 12 giveaways for 12 days of Christmas. So each day, Caroline would post a picture of the gift and everyone had to comment something on it and she would choose a random winner. It is basically a raffle with sliiiiiiim chances. I tried on a couple of days for a couple of things and zilch. The last day, the 12th day of Christmas, Caroline was giving away A NESPRESSO. A TOP-OF-THE-LINE-BRAND-NEW-ESPRESSO-MACHINE WITH A MILK FROTHER AND COFFEE CAPSULES.
Ladies and gentlemen, THIS WAS THE ULTIMATE CONTEST, THE SUPREME LOTTERY, THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS GIFT for me.
So I entered my name amidst some 4,000 other people. And I had to wait for 24 hours to know if I won.
*holds breath for 24 hours*
AND THE RESULTS WERE OUT *cue drum roll* @MISS.THUKRAL HAD WON THE NESPRESSO VERTUOLINE EVOLUO which in english means THE BEST DAMN NESPRESSO MACHINE 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I mean what were the odds? I don't do math, so I can say the odds were not great and therefore when my wish came true on the 12th day of Christmas, I knighted Caroline of Love And Loathing LA, a hero. Santa might not be real, but heroes are - take notes kids. It is a happy ending to a happy story of a young struggling girl's need to find a home and a hot cup of joe of a cold wintery night....not really but picture it for dramatic effect.
That's all. I think I have done Lorelai Gilmore proud.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY! The shots (see what I did there?) below are some favourites from my personal gallery.
